Public Service Swim Meet 2016

The 2016 edition of the annual Public Service Swim Meeting was on April 2nd. It was a good day of fun for the NUS team! As a team, we scored 112 points, claiming (back) 5th place overall out of 17 institutions. Congratulations to all!

Singapore Masters 2015

A small contingent of swimmers represented NUS staff at the annual Singapore Masters Swimming organized by APS swimming. It was a great chance to welcome two new team members: Wen Shuang and Ruben Fernandez. Together with team veteran Qingsong, they managed to collect a considerable amount of medals! Here are a few photos of the event courtesy of Qingsong's camera (as usual).

Public Servie 2015: good medal count and tough competition

The 2015 edition of the Public Service Swim Meeting took place on April 25th. NUS was represented by a small but strong team of 5 swimmers.

The NUS team. From left to right: Andrew Wee, Choo Hengkek, Alberto Corrias, Lin Qingsong and Guillem Riambau

Hengkek successfully defended his title in the 50m freestyle active agers event for the third consecutive yar! Once again, he dominated the event from the start...

Hengkek already ahead of everyone
In the same event, Andrew Wee came third collecting one his 3 medals of the day. Andrew also won (again!) the 50m breastroke active agers event and came second in the 50m backstroke.

The 400m freestyle master event saw an incredibly close battle for 3rd place between Alberto and Guillem. While both swimmers achieved their goal of a sub-6 swim, Alberto snatched the medal for a mere 56/100 of a second.

All in all, NUS team collected 5 medals: 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze. Unfortunately, we were unable to maintain our 5th place in the overall institutional standing, finishing 6th out of 19 Singapore institutions.

Here are some photos of the event, courtesy of Qingsong's camera.

Solid performance in Public Service Meeting 2014

TeamNUS successfully defended the 5th overall place in the Public Service Swim Meeting held on April, 26th 2014 at the Civil Service Club. In spite of some key absences, the 5-man contingent successfully fought back attempts of taking the 5th place by a number of other public organizations.

A big congratulations to all the swimmers! In the picture below (from left to right): Hengkek, Qingsong, Guillem, Alberto and Marcus.

A special mention to Hengkek (gold medal, 50m freestyle, again). A special mention and welcome back to the team to  Marcus (silver medal, 50m breaststroke). Recent addition to the team Guillem Riambau clocked an impressive 5:55 in the 400 m freestyle, securing precious points with the 4th place overall.
